Beijing University attracts pupils by organizing an "open day" with propaganda, advertisements and a certain atmosphere - this year like every year. This day the pupils are allowed to take a glance at the premises and the life of young students.
Every year thousands of pupils take an entrance examination to get permission to study there. Their biggest dream would come true if they got accepted because then they would be looking forward to a prospective future. The university tries to attract new students by showing a film that presents only the best of it, mainly the newly-constructed grandiose building. In contrast to this, the rooms in the student hostel appeared to be comparatively neglected and reminded us rather of a youth hostel. In the cafeteria there were lots of students and we really liked the exciting atmosphere, but as to our opinion, it could have been a bit cleaner. Nevertheless, we were deeply impressed by the largest library of China and the marvellous university park.
